If you move, move with the slowness of earth.
Earth is a one-hour guided session and follows Sand Between Your Fingers. It is part of my ongoing research trajectory Holding Space through Empty Form and my broader inquiry into a living practice: an embodied way of working with attention, material, and presence.
The session offers a calm and structured space for grounding and settling. Participants are guided through a slow, meditative journey while holding and gently molding a piece of clay. The activity is simple and repetitive, making it accessible for different ages and sensitivities. There is no right or wrong way to participate.
Earth works with silence, imagination, and touch. Earth is approached both as ground and as material, soil, dust, clay, something that supports, carries, and responds to pressure. Attention is gently directed toward breath, posture, and the backbone, supporting body awareness and a sense of stability.
The session does not aim at verbal reflection or interpretation. Participants are free to engage at their own pace and in their own way. The clay object is left behind at the end, as a quiet trace of the process rather than a finished product.
Earth holds space for being, offering a moment of rest, focus, and embodied presence within a care environment.
The first try-out of Earth took place in Dingen Die Niet Verkopen. A generous space for this session to work.Â
